'Fuji Rock Festival', Japan's premier music-fest is held every July, about 200 troupes of performers from home and abroad perform their music, attracting more than 100,000 fans during the festival. Not far from the festival site is a tree-lined boardwalk for wheelchair access called 'Independence Board Walk'. Anyone can join this ecologically friendly project by purchasing a wooden board for 1,000 yen which is added to a growing 1.4 kilometers of boardwalk.
