Opened in 1981, The Miyagi Museum of Art features a large collection of modern art, including several works highlighting regional artists from Miyagi and the Tohoku area. The museum also collects Western art. The museum strives to create a 'hands on' experience for visitors by providing studio space for public use, as well as offering several workshops throughout the year.
