Since its' opening in 1930, Yamashita Park has been a popular leisure retreat on the Yokohama waterfront. It was originally built as a revitalization project after the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. This park stretches for about 1 kilometer and includes beautiful gardens, interesting statues and breathtaking views of the harbor and city. Visitors can also take a restaurant cruise or visit the former cruise ship, the "Hikawa Maru".
