Hiroshima is known for its extensive streetcar system as it is the last of its kind in Japan. Operated by Hiroden(Hiroshima Electric Railway Co., Ltd.), the efficient tram transportation system helped the city get back on its feet quickly after the atomic explosion. Today there are both antique and modern streetcars for visitors to ride. Most lines start and finish at JR Hiroshima Station and run frequently throughout the day and evening. There are even special passes available at Hiroden Ticket counters.
