'Yatai' are open-air food stalls serving traditional Japanese "fast food", such as yakitori, oden and ramen noodles. These stalls orignated in the 18th century and are an integral part of Fukuoka's nightlife. Today, there are almost 200 yatais serving delicious food and drinks along the Naka river and streets of the Nakasu and Tenjin districts.
